Extremely rare first edition first printing of 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens). This choice book is one of the very few published in London by Chatto and Windus in 1876 preceding the first American edition which was published six months later. This is a true first edition copy of which very few exist because it was initially published in very small quantity in London. The binding is the original binding in fair condition but it is considered extremely scarce to retain the original binding as most copies found have been rebound. If you do find another copy of this book for sale it would be priced far greater than the price I am asking. I have only found two copies that have sold or are offered for sale and they were priced at $25,000 and $30,000. Both those copies retained their original red cloth binding as does this copy.
