Historical 1872 First Edition book titled 'TESTIMONY TAKEN BY THE JOINT SELECT COMMITTEE TO INQUIRE INTO THE CONDITION OF AFFAIRS IN THE LATE INSURRECTIONARY STATES'. This volume contains the report pertaining to testimony taken by the committee in relation to Ku-Klux Klan activity in South Carolina. Other volumes of which this is one volume from the 13 volume set contain testimony in relation to Ku-Klux Klan activity in other southern states. This volume contains fascinating content in interrogatory question and answer form of first-person testimony and includes negro testimony concerning the Klan as well as others with knowledge of who have had personal interaction with the Klan. The volume is comprised of pages 597-1283 (almost 700 pages). The book is bound in a dark brown colored cloth binding. There is some wear to the binding mostly along the edges of the spine and near or at the corners of the cover. There is also some staining of the binding. The interior is in fine condition. The pages are creamy white in color with occasional light staining which is mostly marginal on some of the pages. The book measures 9"h x 6"w x 2" thick. |
